Example Applications

The TellUs Toolkit team work with a wide range of clients in the utility, environmental and public policy sectors across Europe offering a range of services. Here are some examples of current applications:

Case #1 - Power outage reporting app

Online map-based interface & mobile phone app for reporting/repairing disruptions to customers' energy supply. The main objectives are to increase:

  • Accuracy: the TellUs Toolkit allows you to know the exact location of affected properties / customers.
  • Speed: allows your engineers to get to their destination more quickly.
  • Efficiency: when dealing with multiple cases, TellUs network analysis can provide the optimum routing and ordering of emergency responses.

We can host such a system for you or integrate in to your own CRM systems.

Case #2 - Constraint mapping (with SSE Power Distribution)

Optimising the connection of low carbon technologies to a network using dynamic geo-spatial mapping helps to identify opportunities to deploy Active Network Management systems which can be combined with a set of spatial constraint maps. The TellUs Toolkit provides the electricity distribution network and assets in geographically representative digital maps that allow a range of intelligent functions, including:

  • Identify constraints of the electrical distribution network.
  • Propose solutions to the limitations of the electrical distribution network.
  • Easily add and remove site characteristics and contextual data to the map according to customised needs and requirements.
  • Analyse the impacts of planned additions to the network.
  • Interact with and optimise solutions according to flexible criteria.
We have a short video clip explaing how this works.
Case #3 - Green Home Watch (with the EC)

The Green Home Watch is an online service that allows users to leave reviews of heating and insulation products and services. It is designed to help people make informed decisions about products and services in their area. The generic functions are:

  • Running location based questionnaires to collect user responses to particular issues (in this case experiences of heating and insulation).
  • Presenting the user responses in an online map interface.
  • Allowing anyone to see the responses to the questionnaire where location may have an important role to play in the deliberations over a particular issue of concern.

Case #4 - Online strategic infrastructure planning (with Environment Agency & Defra)

The TellUs Toolkit allows you to conduct placespecific pre-planning consultation and stakeholder engagement about future infrastructure projects. The main objectives are:

  • Visibility: to increase public awareness of your role and services to customers.
  • Transparency: to improve stakeholders' understanding of the facts behind infrastructure plans and proposals, to build consensus prior to submitting planning applications.
  • Engagement: to facilitate public discussion about options and proposals, in order to gauge public opinion and influence debate.
  • Efficiency: to guide you through the preplanning process in order to develop a planning application that has broad-based support from stakeholders.
